I am Neurodivergent

Being neurodivergent as a former psychologist means I am different. Fortunately there are many of us working in various professions. But being outspoken and unconventional can sometimes make us look non compliant or difficult. And I also have a strong justice sensitivity.

One of the challenges I faced in my old role, in running my own private practice was the ADMIN with ADHD. I was managing all the communication with clients and doing the billing and writing notes and reports. This also meant responding to people on weekends and at times sms messages and emails.


A solo entrepreneur has to cover the administration and marketing and service delivery and finances and client communication. Having a virtual assistant can help. With hindsight I would have definitely outsourced the administration and I believe having the support of an administration assistant would have brought in more safety for me.


You can be neurodivergent and a psychologist. Good supervision and support is important for success. There are many successful registered neurodivergent psychologists in the field. Make use of mentors. I was isolated in private practice.
